Doreen Carwithen

Doreen Carwithen (1922-2003) was a British composer who is sometimes also known as Mary Alwyn.

She began playing piano and violin when she was just 4 years old, and at the age of 16, she was composing a Wordsworth poem into a work for voice and piano. She wrote scores for over 30 films and wrote orchestral pieces, concertos, and string quartets.
